ICRISAT, MIBRT sign MoU at 'Bio Asia 2008'
Hyderabad, Feb 9 (UNI) Bio Asia-2008, the fifth edition of the global bio-business forum, came to a close here today with the International Crop Research Institute for Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) exchanging a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the US-based Maryland India Business Roundtable (MIBRT) to facilitate commercialisation of biotechnology innovations.
Nobel Laureate Sir Martin J Evans was presented the Genome Valley Excellance award on the occasion. He lauded the Andhra Pradesh government and the event organisers for integrating knowledge and industry through the forum.
ICRISAT Director General William Dar, after exchanging the MoU with MIBRT Co-chairman Subbu Kota, said the MoU was signed with a view to commercialise biotechnology innovations with the State of Maryland in the US.
Prof Evans presented the 'Bio Asia Innovation Award', sponsored by M/s Intellectual Ventures, to Dr K S Jagannadhan of Shantha Biotechniques and Dr Sharmistha Banerjee of the Central University of Hyderabad.
