Baba Amte's family declines state funeral

Nagpur, Feb 9: Family of noted social worker Baba Amte, who passed away early today, has declined a state funeral for him.

The Government had planned a state funeral for the Magsaysay Award winner, but the family members declined it, official sources told UNI. ''Baba would not have liked it. During his entire life, Baba kept away from such things,'' the family told government officers, sources said. Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh would be among those who will attend Baba's funeral tomorrow, sources added.
