Implement RI Act strictly to avoid delay: Ambati
Vijayawada, Feb 8 (UNI) The Right to Information (RI) Act should be implemented stircly to avoid delay in getting information to the people, Andhra Pradesh RI Act Commissioner Ambati Subbarao said today.
Talking to newspersons after a review meeting of endowments officials of East Godavari, West Godavari and Krishna districts here, he said under the RI Act, if information was not given to those seeking it before the stipulated time, the concerned officials would be fined upto Rs 25,000 and departmental action would also be initiated.
The government had sanctioned Rs 30 lakh for providing training for government officials on RI Act. He also advised the officials to display 17 important issues related to RT Act in every office.
