Film Division opens door to public sector for sponsorship
Mumbai, Feb 8 (UNI) Films Division's chief producer Kuldeep Sinha today said it was open for sponsorship for film festivals, like Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF), from public sector companies rather than corporate ones.
''We will not allow anyone to hijack MIFF, we don't want to join it with any brand. I am happy to see 'MIFF-FD' brand together,'' said Sinha, who is also the Director of MIFF 2008, while addressing the reporters here on the eve of closing ceremony of the week-long festival, which started on February 3.
He said the Film Division was working on the proposal for starting a special Doordarshan channel for documentaries.
Quoting Union Information and Broadcasting Minister, Priyaranjan Dasmunshi who had said that he would pass a proposal of opening a channel on documentaries within a week's time, Sinha further said the Film Division was pursuing the idea of screening documentaries on Doordarshan India.
Expressing satisfaction over the overwhelming response from the public, the chief producer said if demand persists, the award-winning documentaries would be screened in the Film Division auditorium twice a month.
The Film Division would actively pull together all its resources in conducting the festival in other parts of the country provided the other party takes the responsibility in organising it, he added.
