Initiatives for tourism devt in Dakshina Kannada dt
Mangalore, Feb 5 (UNI) Karnataka Tourism Department has taken up various initiatives to boost tourism in the picturesque Dakshina Kannada district, its Director C Somasekhar said here today.
Speaking at the inaugural function of a workshop on 'Tourism opportunities in Dakshina Kannada' at Tourism Conclave-2008 here he said, the Department would develop Pilikula Nisargadhaama, on the city outskirts, at a cost of Rs 7.73 crore. Of the amount, Rs 50 lakh each had already been released for developing Ayurvedavan and Wildlife Park.
The Department had convened an 'Investors' Meet' at Bangalore on February 14, to invite private players in tourism promotional activities in the state.
The Department would confine tourism activities in agreement with Coastal Regulation Zone Act, he said. The government would develop a golf court and aqua marine park at Tannirbavi, near Panambur at a cost of Rs 20 crore. Panambur beach would be developed at a cost of Rs 82.5 lakh.
To promote tourism activities in districts, the government would appoint Tourist Executives, once their selection process was over, in each district.
Stating that opportunities were available for Highway tourism and Home Stay facilities along Karnataka coast from Ullal to Karwar, on the lines of Kerala and Goa, he called upon interested parties to join in this Public Private Partnership (PPP) venture.
