Basra takes over as new Commander of CG Eastern Region
Chennai, Feb 5 (UNI) Inspector General Surinder Pal Singh Basra has assumed charge as the new Commander of Coast Guard, Eastern Region.
He took charge from Inspector General Rajendra Singh after an impressive ceremonial parade here last evening.
Mr Basra was earlier Deputy Director General at Coast Guard, Headquarters, New Delhi.
He graduated from the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, in 1990.
He has held various important posts, including commands of Interceptor Boat-C-01, Inshore Patrol Vessel Ahalya Bai, Offshore Patrol Vessel Varaha and Coast Guard Training Ship Varuna.
He was also the Chief Staff Officer (Operations) at the Regional Headquarters (East) and Commander of the Coast Guard Region, Andaman and Nicobar.
