Archives exhibition in Vidhana Soudha from Feb 6
Bangalore, Feb 5 (UNI) The Directorate of Karnataka State Archives (KSA), which preserves historic documents and photographs concerning the State, will hold a three-day exhibition in the Vidhana Soudha Banquet Hall from tomorrow.
Briefing newspersons on the exhibition here today, Kannada and Culture Department secretary I M Vittalmurthy said the exhibition was aimed at creating awareness among the public.
As part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Karnataka state formation, the department would hold workshops in association with different universities, he said.
KSA Director Usha Suresh, who was also present, said the exhibits would include source material on the history of Mysore since the British rule, copies of French records relating to the correspondence between Hyder Ali, Tippu Sultan and the French, an account of Indian National Congress' attempts to oust British from Mysore state and Unification movement and Gazettes from the year 1866.
The records were in English, French, Kannada and Marathi. The Directorate had also published various books of historical importance, she added.
