Chandigarh, Feb 5 (UNI) The Haryana government has warned stone crushers, hot mix plants and mining units of strict action if they failed to install pollution measures in a time-bound manner.

The Chairman of the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) A S Chahal today told reporters that every step would be taken to clean the water of river Yamuna, running through the state.

Mr Chahal, who inspected the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at Panipat said the samples of the STP and Panipat drain have been collected and sent to the laboratory for analysis.

He said the authorities would soon take up the matter of further up-gradation of the STP due to increase in discharge of sewage effluent so that water quality of river Yamuna could be improved further.

Meanwhile, he advised the Department of Water Supply and Sanitation to provide electronic magnetic meters at the inlet and outlet of the 35 MLD capacity STP at Panipat.

He also suggested that a gas meter be installed for measurement of quantum of methane gas generation and maintaining log book for electric consumption for running of pumps.
