Una to be developed up as tourist destination: CM

Una, Feb. 4 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said tourism promotional activities and efforts would be made to tap the natural potential and carry out tourism development in a well-planned manner in Una.

Chief Minister he was talking to press reporters here in a function organized by Press Club Una said that to promote high paying tourism infrastructure here a proposal to construct an international airport in the district was under consideration, which would help in boosting tourism activities in the district.

''Available infrastructure of helipads would also be utilized for heli-texi services so that people could see the natural grandeur of the State by spending minimum time available at their disposal,'' Mr.

Dhumal said Chief Minister further said Government was also contemplating over to develop Una district as ''Kinnow District'' as it had high potential for the cultivation of fruit.

''Efforts would be made to introduce high yielding variety of the fruit to help the growers of the districts to cultivate the same for self-employment and income generating activities, Government had directed to get the soil testing of farmers free of all charges, and also advise farmers to cultivate the crop which suits the soil and generate income to them.
