''On the basis of information by some Hindu organisations, four containers were seized from a 'dhaba (roadside restaurant)' near Balsamund chek post, and two from Sendhwa area. Four drivers were arrested but two others managed to escape,'' Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Rajeev Mishra said.
He said the anger of supporters of Hindu organisations over the suspicion that containers were conveying beef was clamed down.
A total of 11 containers conveying flesh had been seized in Barwani in the past two days. The drivers had been sent on police remand.
Sub-Divisional Officer (Revenue) Vishnu Kamalkar said some Hindu organisations had alleged that transport employees at Balsumund chek post were allowing these containers to go for a bribe.
A constable has been removed and was being sent to Gwalior headquarters in this view. An investigation report has been submitted to the district collector in this regard.
