Officials seize spurious ISI marked packaged drinking water
Chennai, Feb 4 (UNI) Officials of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) raided a packaged drinking water unit at suburban Kavangarai and seized substantial quantities of spuriously ISI marked 20 litre bubble tops.
An official release here today said the raids were conducted on February one at M/s Aqua Femina Packaged Drinking Water and packaged drinking water bearing brand names "Geo Fresh" and "Aqua Femina" were seized.
It said the company was not having a valid licence to use ISI mark and had violated BIS Act 1986.
Action was being initiated against the firm under BIS Act 1986 and the offence was punishable with imprisonment upto one year or a fine of upto Rs 50,000 or both, the release added.
