Chennai, Feb 4: Police have arrested a man for abducting a three-year-old girl child from the city and selling her to gypsies for Rs 30 at Sullurpet on the Tamil Nadu-Andhra border. The child, abducted last month, was rescued by a Special team of Police yesterday and the person, Ibrahim (44), was arrested.
Ibrahim was a platform dweller, who eked out a living by burning incense in shops and houses. He had befriended the girl's parents and abducted her. While selling the girl to the gypsies for a measely sum, he had demanded Rs 1000 and told them that the child was found abandoned at a Railway Station.

As a complaint had already been pending before the Mylapore police, a Special team acting on in the information provided by the girl's mother, rushed to Sullurpet and rescued the child.
