Hafed products witness 175% increase in Dec '07 sales

Chandigarh, Feb 4 (UNI) The sale of consumer products being marketed by the Haryana State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Limited' under the brand name 'Hafed' has registered an increase of 175 per cent during the month of December 2007 as compared to the sales in the same month a year ago.

Giving this information here today, the Haryana Cooperation Minister H S Chatha said the progressive sale of Hafed consumer products--Hafed Superior Basmati Rice, Pusa Basmati Rice, Sharbati Rice, Permal Rice, Tibar Basmati Rice, Dubar Basmati Rice, Kachchi Ghani Mustard Oil Grade 1, Refined Cotton Seed Oil, Refined Soyabean Oil and Desi Wheat have shown an increase of 86.22 per cent in the current financial year.

The sale of Kachchi Ghani Mustard Oil during this period has also shown a remarkable increase to Rs 874.33 lakh from Rs 392.13 lakh.

Mr Chatha said this was the result of various steps taken by the organisation to strengthen and streamline its distribution network, besides improving its quality by making necessary investments in its processing units and taking brand image building initiatives.

In order to ensure that the consumers get only the pure products, Hafed is sourcing the raw material like Basmati and Desi Wheat through contract farming, for which the organisation makes available seed and technical guidance to the farmers.

Moreover, all Hafed's processing units where these products are manufactured are not only ISO 9001:2000 certified but also HACCP certified for food safety.

Hafed will be marketing Desi Wheat Atta, Vanaspati, Sugar and Organic Products for its consumers.
