Army jawan found hanging from tree in Jammu

Jammu, Feb 3 (UNI) An army jawan allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in the military hospital (MH) premises here, a defence spokesperson today said.

The deceased identified as signalman Balbir Singh (32) of 80 Brigade Signal Company, resident of Gandhi Nagar area of this city, was found dead this morning, Lt Col S D Goswami told UNI.

''The jawan was suffering from depressive disorder and was admitted to the MH Jammu on January 9,'' he said.

The Army has registered an FIR with the police and instituted a court of inquiry (COI) to probe the reasons that compelled the patient to take the extreme step.
