North Indian arrested in restricted area

Kochi, Feb 2 (UNI) In another security lapse at the Nedumbaserry International Airport, near here, a north Indian construction worker managed to get close to the restricted parking bay area before being intercepted by security personnel last evening.

Police today said 19-year-old Tahir Khan, from Ghazipur in Agra, managed to get close to the parking bay at the international terminal before being intercepted by security personnel.

Khan, who had a valid three-day pass to enter the international terminal in connection with some construction work, could not explain what he was doing in the restricted area.

He was later handed over to the police, who produced him in court today which granted him bail.

Last month, the passengers of an international Jet Airways flight were taken to the domestic departure terminal instead of the international one and one of them even left the airport without undergoing the customary customs and immigration checks.
