Maharashtra: Man strangulates wife, commits suicide

Kolhapur, Feb 2: A man strangulated his wife to death before committing suicide by consuming poison at Koleendre village in Ajra tehsil of this district, police said today.

The man had been identified as Maruti Govind Kamble (47) and his wife as Malan, alias Ratnamala (40), police said.

Police recovered Malan's body at her residence and Maruti's body was found in a field yesterday.

Maruti's drinking problem often resulted in quarrels between the couple and this appears to be the reason behind the crime, police added.
