Gas leak: Five killed onboard INS Jalashwa

Visakhapatnam, Feb 2 (UNI) Five sailors were killed and three others injured in a gas leak in a compartment of 'INS Jalashwa' last evening, when the ship was engaged in exercises with other fleet units between Visakhapatnam and Port Blair.

According to an Eastern Naval Command release here today, the ship, proceeding to Port Blair, however, did not suffer any damage.

The injured personnel have been airlifted to Visakhapatnam for treatment at 'INHS Kalyani'.

A board of inquiry had been constituted to ascertain the cause of the accident.
