50 years ago I was a 10 yr-old school kid: Jaya to Anbazhagan

Chennai, Feb 2 (UNI) AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa today joined issue with senior DMK leader K Anbazhagan, saying 50 years ago, she was a 10-year-old student of Church Park convent and there was no secret about it.

Ms Jayalalithaa was reacting to Mr Anbazhagan's poser in the state Assembly yesterday that he would disclose as how some people were and what position they held 50 years ago, in an apparent reference to her.

Participating in the debate on the motion of thanks to the Governor's address yesterday, Ms Jayalalithaa had remarked that Mr Anbazhagan, fondly addressed as ''Perasiriyar'' (Professor), was only an Assistant Professor in Pachaiayappa's college.

In a statement here, she said after making the remarks in the Assembly, she made it clear that she had not made any disparaging remarks against the senior DMK leader and the latter had also accepted the same.

However, Mr Anbazhagan, reacting to her remarks, said he was just a student at his young age and threatened to disclose the ''positions'' held by some people 50 years ago, in a bid to take a dig at Ms Jayalalithaa.

Ms Jayalalithaa, in today's statement said though she wanted to reply to him on the floor of the House itself, she refrained as she was not given the mike immediately and had to concentrate on other issues.

''Fifty years ago, I was a student of Church Park convent and there is no secret in this'', she said.
