World Bank award for DD correspondent
Hyderabad, Feb 1 (UNI) Senior news correspondent of Doordarshan, Hyderabad, Emani Krishna Rao bagged the World Bank Award 2008 for his film on multicropping and biodiversity.
The documentary 'God's own crops' was telecast on DD Sapthagiri channel, highlighting the efforts of rural women of Andhra Pradesh in sustainable development and food sovereignty.
The award was presented to Mr Rao at Nassau, Bahamas, on January 24 by World Bank's Chief of Broadcast Camille Funnel during the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association annual general conference.
This feature also won the Doordarshan Best Documentary award 2007 and BBC World Trust Award 2006. It was made as part of a programme on environmental protection and food security by Prasar Bharati, BBC World Trust, TERI and Stockholm Environment Institute, according to a release here today.
This was the second time that Mr Rao had bagged the World Bank Award. He had won the 2006 World Bank award for his film 'From fallows to food baskets'.
