Union Govt to provide scholarship grants to minority students
Dubrajpur, West Bengal, Feb 1 (UNI) External Affair Minister Pranab Mukherjee today said the Centre has decided to provide scholarship grants to minority students from Class V to XII on monthly basis.
Mr Mukherjee said it was decided in a recent Cabinet meeting held to provide Rs 350 for students not availing hostel facility and Rs 650 for the boarders per month.
He said the decision was taken to implement the Sachhar Committee recommendation on minority communily.
Mr Mukherjee said the Union Government would also build infrastructure and create study facilities for Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe to bring them in the national mainstream.
Mr Mukherjee was here to open a newly built market place named after former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
