K'taka: Planters demand waiver of crop loan

Madikeri, Feb 1: Planters from Somwarpet taluk have decided to picket the Coffee Board office at Bangalore on February 6 and 7 demanding for waiver of crop loan.

Holding a meeting at Shanivarsanthe today, President of the Planters' Assocation Nagappa said that the protest would be observed before the Coffee Board to press for their demand.

Thousands of planters from the taluk will take part in the protest, he said.

The meeting also decided to invite planters from all the villages to join them.

The Association members paid a surprise visit to all the coffee buyers at Shanivarsanthe and inspected the weighing scales and found them practicing of unethical methods.
