India seeks inforamtion from US and China on bird flu medicines

Dubrajpur, Birbhum, Feb 1 (UNI) India has sought information from the US and China the remedy against avian influenza, according to External Affair Minister Pranab Mukherjee.

The bird flu that is currently raging has already devastated poultry business resulting culling of millions of chickens in thirteen districts of West Bengal.

Mr Mukherjee told a news conference here today that the Union Government has already alerted all the states of the country to take precautionary measures against the dreaded H5N1 virus.

He said since China and America had been affected by the highly contagious virus of avian influenza, the information from the two countries regarding preventive measures and vaccination, if any, could help India to contain the dreaded disease.

Although culling of the affected chickens was in progressed, the information, recommendation and suggestions from the two countries would help India to fight bird flu, added Mr Mukherjee.
