Barabanki, Feb 1 (UNI) Samajwadi Kranti Dal (SKD) supremo and disgruntled Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Beni Prasad Verma today asked AICC president Sonia Gandhi to tighten the noose over Uttar Pradesh Congress in-charge Digvijay Singh or else it would be difficult to work with him.
Mr Verma, however, maintained that his first choice was Congress and he could play a significant role in reviving the golden era of the beleaguered party.
''The Congress ought to target SP and BJP, but, Digvijay is persistently mud-slinging Chief Minister Mayawati and strengthening her mass base,'' Mr Verma told reporters here.
The MP observed ''the Congress' mass base is continuously declining due to its wrong policies...after Gujarat debacle, the party is repeating the same mistake in UP. Now, Congress should stop helping communal BJP and mafia's supporter SP.'' UNI XC-ATI PK HS1755
