Sonia to decide on Karunakaran's position in party : Kidwai
Kochi, Jan 31 (UNI) AICC General Secretary Mohsina Kidwai today said Congress President Sonia Gandhi would decide on the position of veteran leader K Karunakaran, who has returned to the party.
Speaking to reporters after visiting Mr Karunakaran at his daughter's home here, she said '' Mr Karunakaran is a fatherly figure for the party and is most welcome to its fold.'' To a question on whether Opposition leader Oommen Chandy had a difference of opinion on Mr Karunakaran's re-entry into the Congress, Ms Kidwai said '' Mr Chandy had never opposed Mr Karunakaran's return to the party and had stood by the party's decision.'' She said the position of other leaders, who were returning to the party along with Mr Karunakaran, would be decided by State leaders like Mr Chandy and KPCC President Ramesh Chennithala.
Ms Kidwai is here to attend the 'Aikya Mahasamelanam', in which Union Minister Vayalar Ravi, Mr Chandy, Mr Chennithala and other leaders would be present.
