Officers Assn condemn councillors' behaviour
Puducherry,Jan 31(UNI) Puducherry Civil Service Officers Association today strongly condemned the aggressive behaviour of the Councillors and Chairperson of Puducherry Municipality who entered the chamber of Local Administration Department (LAD) Director Vallabhan on January 29 and threw certain records and broke sofas and chairs before abusing the official in front of the staff.
In a statement here today, Association President Rattan Singh said the association was also concerned about the councillors and chairperson adopting unparliamentary and undemocratic methods to 'create fear in the minds of the officers of LAD to force them not to obey government orders.' The association appealed to all law abiding citizens here to condemn such strong arm tactics of the elected representatives of Puducherry Municipality for trying to intimidate statuatory functionaries without any regard to the rule of law.
Meanwhile, for the second day today, the employees of the LAD struck work and staged dharna before the office to protest the action of the municipal councillors and chairperson.
