Jt comn to ensure regular power supply

Aizawl, Jan 31 (UNI) Manipur and Mizoram have formed a Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission to ensure regular power supply in the two Northeastern states, official sources said today.

The joint commission, formed under the Central Electricity Act 2003, will be headquartered at Aizawl.

The commission has Bihari Singh (Manipur) as chairman and Rin Sanga (Mizoram) as member who will hold their office shortly. The term of their office would be five years and the chairmanship will be exchanged between the two states yearly.

A staff of about 30 people will also be employed, the sources said.

Most of the states have these joint commissions. In the Northeast, only Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland are yet to have one, the source said.
