Gangubai Hangal to be honoured with hon doctorate by KOSU

Mysore, Jan 31 (UNI) Legendary Hindustani musician Gangubai Hangal would be conferred with honorary doctorate degree at the eight Annual Convocation of Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) to be held here on February 8.

Speaking to newspersons here today, KSOU Vice Chancellor A Vivek Rai said former Vice Chancellor of Goa and Mangalore University B Sheik Ali, science writer G T Narayana Rao and writer K Chennabasappa would also be conferred with the degree .

The Chairman of Distance Education programme of Indira Gandhi Open University V N Rajashekaran Pillai would deliver the convocation address.

Fifteen toppers would receive gold medals, Mr Rai added.
