AP Govt extends deadline for penalty under BPS, LRS
Hyderabad, Jan 31 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K Ranga Rao today said the government has extended till March 31 the deadline to pay penalty under Building Penalisation Scheme (BPS) and Layout Regulation Schemes (LRS) by amending the previous orders with new Government Orders (GOs) viz 112 and 113.
Addressing the press here, Mr Rao said after examining several representations from different sections with regard to reduction of penalty rates, extension of time and facility of payment in instalments, the previous GOs were amended to provide facility to pay penalty in two instalments.
He said while 50 per cent should be paid at the time of application, the balance can be remitted in six months.
State Principal Secretary to Municipal Administration SP Singh said the revised BPS and LRS would not put economical burden on any section of the people in the State.
Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy directed the officials in the review meeting on this issue that penalisation charges should be linked with the land values and they should be low for buildings in small plots.
The charges for Greater Visakha Municipal Corporation and Vijayawada Municipal Corporation would be lesser than the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
