Woman Maoist surrenders in Andhra

Visakhapatnam, Jan 30: A woman member of the Galikonda Dalam group of the banned CPI Maoists surrendered to the police late last night.

District Police, in a release here today, said 20-year-old M Vanamma alias Vara surrendered herself at the G K Veedhi police station.

A native of Pedapadu village in G K Veedhi mandal of the district, she joined the Dalam in 2005.

Vara returned to her village a week ago and was living in fear of reprisal from the Maoists for leaving the outfit, the release added.
