Tributes paid to Father of the Nation on Martyrs' Day
Shillong, jan 30 (UNI) Along with the rest of the country, Meghalaya today observed a two minute silence in memory of those who sacrificed their lives in the struggle for India's freedom.
The main function was held here at the capital city which started with the ''Savshan'' position by the personnel of Meghalaya Home Guards and Civil Defence, followed by wreath laying ceremony at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi by senior government officials, on the occasion of the 60th death anniversary of the Father of the Nation.
Besides, a two minute silence was observed during which the vehicular traffic and people came to a standstill.
