One kidnapped by militants in north Kashmir

Srinagar Jan 29: One person was kidnapped by militants in the frontier district of Kupwara last evening, official sources said today.

They said a group of two militants entered the house of one Reyaz Ahmad Lone at Badrah Payeen at Handwara and kidnapped him. However, when other house members tried to resist, the militants fired some rounds in the air.

The wife of Lone, Mehbooba Begum, has lodged a complaint in Kralgund Handwara police station and alleged that Shabir Ahmad and Shazada, with the assistance of some unidentified gunmen had kidnapped her husband.

Police have registered a case and launched a manhunt to nab the culprits.
