No Naxalite affected red corridor exists in country-Patil

Jaipur, Jan 29 (UNI) Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil today said there was no existence of Naxalite affected ''red corridor'' between Nepal and Andhra Pradesh and terrorism and naxalite menace prevailed only in 1,400 villages scattered over 10 states of the country.

Interacting with the audience during the inaugural session at the 38th All India Police Science Congress here, Mr Patil said that there was a false perception about so -alled Naxites affected red corridor which did give undue projection to the menace which infact was scattered in 1400 villages under 300 police stations in 160 districts of 10 states.

Mr Patil said ''we are required to look at the problem in right perspective without creating false hype.'' The Home Minister reiterated his government's commitment for effectively fighting out the twin menace of terrorism and Naxalite movement.

This the government was doing with holistic and multipronged approach, Mr Patil added.
