Court grants bail to Pandel in fake passport case
Mumbai, Jan 29 (UNI) A local court today granted bail of Rs 30,000 to Aslam Rafique Pandel, alias Amit Rajesh Verma, in the infamous fake passport racket case here.
Granting bail, Additional Sessions Judge K T Rathod directed the accused to furnish either one or two surety of the same amount, not to tamper with the evidence, attend the crime branch unit-I on every Monday and Thursday between 1700 hrs to 1900 hrs till filing of the chargesheet and not to leave the country without prior permission from the court.
Additional Public Prosecutor A Kenjalkar said Pandel had procured eight to ten passports to visit the United Kingdom along with other people, who he introduced as his family members.
He used to take these people on a tourist visa to the UK and after leaving them behind, he would come back to India.
During the investigation, he had admitted that he had procured fake passports and took some people to the United Kingdom.
