Youth arrested with sword; Police recover bombs in raid
Kannur, Jan 28 (UNI) Police have arrested a youth and recovered three country made bombs and three swords in raids in different parts of the district today.
The arrested was identified as E P Raju (24), police said.
Meanwhile, the Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) convened a peace meeting, which was attended by the CPI(M), BJP and RSS leaders.
The leaders extended all cooperation to maintain law and order in the district and decided that no political meeting or procession would be held for a week. Another peace meeting would be held on February 2.
The situation had turned worse with the killing of a CPI(M) activist allegedly by the RSS yesterday.
Following the incident, some shops were set on fire by unidentified people. Heavy police force was deployed to prevent further violence in the area.
