Tighten noose around trigger happy revellers: Bhagwant Mann
Chandigarh, Jan 28 (UNI) Taking a dig at the prodigal display of aggression and influence through armed weapons during marriages in Punjab, noted comedian and TV personality Bhagwant Mann today called upon the Punjab government to effectively impose the ban upon the use of firearms during such functions.
Mr Mann, speaking in the light of the recent incident of death of a poor assistant cameraperson Jassi, who fell prey to a stray bullet injury out of a barati's piston in Landran, in a press conference here lashed back at the trigger happy revellers who take pride in firing a bullet during social gatherings much to the awe and fear of many.
Mr Mann bemoaned the increasing tendency among Punjabis to show off power through such histrionics, most commonly under the influence of liquor.
''The fact that even our singers and entertainers like Dilshad Akhtar have been the victims of such accidental firing incidents must provoke the Punjabi entertainment community to not allow such humbug at least at the functions where they are performing,'' demanded Mr Mann.
Calling upon stringent laws to be framed for checking and dissuading such trouble makers, Mr Mann sought a strict compliance on part of cops as well as the marriage palace owners who more often are silent spectators to whole illegality.
