Britney Spears' latest album wins French award

Washington, Jan 28 : Amidst all the negative publicity this year, Britney Spears might be on top of the world with her latest album being honoured by French radio listeners.

The pop-wreck's album 'Blackout' was named the best international album of the last year at the NRJ music awards in Cannes.

The 26-year-old's latest album, was at number two in the UK charts and has beaten the likes of Amy Winehouse, Mika, James Blunt and Rihanna to gain the top position at NRJ.

The prestigious honour comes at a time when Britney's personal life is in a whirlwind, owing to her recent bizarre behaviour.

Another troubled star, Amy Winehouse, was due to perform at the Palais de Festivals, but had to step back after entering a drug rehab centre.

The other winners in France included R and B singer Rihanna, who was awarded the gong for best international song (Don't Stop the Music).

While Mika was named best international revelation, Avril Lavigne and Justin Timberlake won the best international female and male awards respectively.
