Villupuram-Mayiladuthurai conversion work to be completed by June
Chennai, Jan 27 (UNI) Minister of State for Railways R Velu today said the 122 km long Villupuram-Mayiladuthurai broad guage conversion work would be completed by June this year at a cost of Rs 270 crore.
Talking to reporters after inspecting the Railway overbridge work at Annamalai Nagar in Chidambaram and various other projects, he said the contractors executing the works were asked to speed up the projects.
He also warned that any laxity on the part of executing the projects would be sternly dealt with.
He said simultaneous broad guage conversion works were also undertaken on the Karaikudi-Manamadurai and Vellore-Katpadi sections.
Mr Velu said Southern Railway General Manager Rakesh Chopra would inspect the on-going works in these sectors and submit a detailed report to the Ministry.
