IGNOU begins e-books initiative for distant learners
New Delhi, Jan 27 (UNI) Taking another giant stride towards empowering people through education while taking education to newer vistas, the Indira Gandhi Naional University (IGNOU) today launched its 'e-books' initiative for its Distance Learners Library programme.
The initiative, inaugurated by IGNOU Vice-Chancellor V N Rajshekharan Pillai, would see 185 e-books reach the university's students all over India through its regional centres, according to the IGNOU.
At the initial stage, the e-books cover Sciences, Computer Sciences, Humanities and Management through its first lot of 185 books, subscribed from Netlibrary Aggregator', but would soon include a wide array of subjects and topics.
The e-books would soon be made available to other participating institutions of open and distance learning system through the National Open and Distance Learners' Library and Information Network (NODLINET).
