Action on panchayat chiefs on non-convening of gram sabhas: Official

Puducherry,Jan 27: The administration will initiate action against panchayat presidents who failed to convene the grama sabha yesterday under the directions of the government, after getting report from its observers, an official said.

In a statement here today,Local Administration Director Vallabhan said the grama sabha was convened only in 39 village panchayats in Puducherry and 20 in Karaikal.

Action would be taken against village panchayat presidents who failed to convene the gram sabha,he warned.
