Youth Congress demands CBI probe into land deal
Kochi, Jan 25 (UNI) Kerala Pradesh Youth Congress president T Siddique today demanded a CBI inquiry into the controversial Hindustan Machine Tools Limited (HMT) land deal for setting up Cyber City at Kalamassery, near here.
Speaking to reporters here, he also sought the resignation of State Industries Minister Elamaram Kareem and Revenue Minister K P Rajendran, who, he alleged, were instrumental in materialising the deal for the transfer of 70 acres of land from HMT to Mumbai-based HDIL.
Mr Siddique alleged that the Left Democratic Front (LDF) Government was supporting the 'land mafia' in the State.
'' The CPM and CPI both were taking commission and helping the land mafia acquire land in various parts of the State,'' he alleged.
The allegation was that the Central PSU had sold the land, which the State had acquired for it a few years ago at a much lower price than the market rate, to HDIL for setting up the project.
