Thomas cook, TCI launch holiday carnival

Mumbai, Jan 25 (UNI) Thomas Cook India and Travel Corporation of India (TCI) have brought together industry leaders under one roof at the '100 per cent Holiday Carnival', the largest multi-city roadshow ever organised.

'100 per cent holiday carnival' will showcase various facets of travel and emerging destinations. This initiative is the biggest ever structured roadshow by any travel company in India and Thomas Cook will project the best of India. The roadshow will cover Cochin, Indore, Lucknow, Kanpur, Surat,Vishakhapatnam, Coimbatore, Ludhiana, Nashik,Nagpur, Chandigarh and Jaipur other then metros like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad.

The roadshow was kicked off in Mumbai yesterday.

Talking to reporters here today, Ms Nalini Gupta, President and Head, Thomas Cook India and MD,TCI, said India is gearing up as one of the most prosperous economies in the world with a high disposable income. The number of Indians doing leisure travel has been on the rise for the last couple of years and the 100 per cent Holiday carnival will be a good source of information.

''We are targetting the middle class who have never travelled before. Naturally, there will lot of questions about affordability.

We intend to bring down these barriers by coming face to face with the potential outbound tourists,''she added.

''We have forecast 20 per cent increase in the number of outbound tourists from Metro cities and 30 per cent increase from tier II cities,'' she said adding that new exotic foreign destinations include South America and Hawai in USA.

She said '100 per cent holiday carnival' will host a bouquet of exciting offers to various interesting destinations within and outside India. Partners for this initiative are -Star cruises and Costa cruises, various airlines -Lufthansa, Jet Airways, Air France, South African airways, tourism boards-Singapore tourism board, Malaysian tourism board, Switzerland tourism Board, Bihar tourism board, Chandigarh tourism board, New Zealand tourism board, Rail companies- rail Europe.
