More power required for law enforcement: Customs Commissioner
Chennai, Jan 25 (UNI) Chief Customs Commissioner Subash Chandra today emphasised the need for more power for law enforcement in order to check drug trafficking in the region.
Speaking on the occasion of 'World Customs Day' here, he said the role of law enforcement should be changed to counter various modus operandi adopted by drug peddlers.
''Law enforcement should change their style of operation then and there to thwart smuggling of drugs,'' he added.
Speaking on the occasion, City Police Commissioner G Nanchil Kumaran emphasised that the law was not keeping phase with the demands of crime.
''Delay in executing law is frustrating,'' he said.
He emphasised that the society should play a key role in creating awareness among children about the implications of drug.
''Even academics can have a subject on drug and its implications,'' he pointed out.
