Mewat to set up 4000 educational centres
Chandigarh, Jan 25 (UNI) With a view to giving special thrust on imparting education and checking the dropout rate, the Mewat Development Agency has decided to open 4000 education centres in the backward areas of Mewat district.
While giving this information here today a spokesman of the Agency said about 1000 such education centres had already been set up by the Agency in the district and as many centres would be set up in the district during the next financial year.
He said Haryana Government had upgraded 187 primary schools to the level of middle schools. As many as 785 schools, four degree colleges, seven Industrial Training Institutes and Vocational Education Institutes were functioning in the Mewat area. He said 50 per cent seats had been reserved in the technical institutes of teh region for the students of Mewat district.
The spokesman said Haryana Government had decided to constitute a committee by the village panchayats for keeping a strict check on the teachers . He said the committee will be empowered to make appointments of qualified students of their respective villages in place of teachers who perpetually remain absent from work.
The Government has also made a provision for checking the drop out rate in the schools and efforts were being made to set up primary schools in the radius of one kilometre, middle school in the radius of two kilometres so that educational facilities could be made available within the easy reach of the students, he added.
The Government has also announced a number of incentives to attract the students belonging to scheduled castes under the scheme known as Mukhyamantri Scheduled Castes Chhattra Shiksha Protsahan Yojna besides the Dr Ambedkar Medhavi Chhatra Yojna had also been implemented to raise the educational status of the students.
He said the Government had made considerable enhancement in the financial incentives given every year to the students belonging to the SC communities for the purchase of books and stationery items.
