Legislation to protect women in unorganised sector soon

Kolhapur, Jan 25 (UNI) Maharashtra Women and Child Welfare Minister Harshwardhan Patil today said the State Government will soon pass a legislation to provide protection to women in the unorganised sector.

Mr Patil, who is also the district guardian minister, told reporters here today that a large number of women in Maharashtra were engaged as domestic servants or working as labourers.

Such women will be provided life insurance cover and the premiums will be paid by the State Government, Mr Patil said.

The State Government was also considering an increase in the wages of the ''anganwadi sevikas'', the Minister said.
