K'taka Guv announces shifting of 3 villages in Bagalkot dist

Bangalore, Jan 25 (UNI) The executive committee has approved a project for shifting of three villages in Bagalkot district at a cost of Rs 12 crore.

Informing this to newspersons after the meeting today, Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur said under the pilot project the shifting of two villages in Badami taluk and one village in Hunagund taluk would begin in the second week of February.

Stating that more than 500 families, who were affected by floods last season would be benefitted, the governor said house sites would be provided free of cost to families of Below Poverty Line, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes to construct houses in the new locations. The land has been acquired and the work would begin soon.

A meeting to provide hike over and above the existing Minimum Support Price (MSP) for sugarcane growers would be held next week, he said adding that sugar mills had been asked to crush all the sugarcane crop of this season.
