House, land of French grabbed in Pondy: Assn
Puducherry, Jan 25 (UNI) The newly-formed association 'The French People of Puducherry and Their Friends' today alleged that French citizens were becoming victims of land and house grabbing here.
Association founder-president Lt Col Mustaffa told a press conference that house No-54 at Mulla Street, owned by a French couple, was illegally occupied by a woman.
Though a complaint was filed with a committee under district collector on November 26 last and a reminder sent on December 27, no action was taken.
Similarly, house No-7 at Senzheel Street, No-31 at Montrios Street and No-21 at Senet Anthuwan street were grabbed after preparing forged documents, he charged.
Lt Col Mustaffa said ''if the committee could not initiate proper action, its existence is useless.'' He urged the Centre and territorial administration to take steps to prevent the grabbing incidences.
