Fishermen on fast for release of colleagues by Lankan Navy

Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, Jan 25 (UNI) Fishermen here are observing a day's fast demanding release of 12 of their colleagues who were allegedly arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy for straying into their territorial waters.

Sources said fishermen struck work from this morning and observed a fast demanding the Union and State Governments' intervention in the issue immediately.

The fishermen, who ventured into the sea in three boats, were set to return on Tuesday when they were arrested by the Lankan Navy.
