College girl 'ends life' over low marks

Chennai, Jan 25 (UNI) A first-year student of Ethiraj Women's College in the city committed suicide by hanging after she was allegedly pulled up by the College Management for securing low marks in the semester examinations.

Police sources said today Hemalatha appeared dejected after the college management summoned her parents yesterday to inform about her poor performance in studies.

After returning home, she went to her room and locked it from inside at around 1500 hrs. The room was not opened for long and the incident came to light when her parents called her for dinner at around 2100 hrs.
