Chain snatching incidents on rise in Pondy

Puducherry,Jan 25 (UNI) The incidence of chain snatching by motorcycle-borne persons is on the increase in the union territory.

Sivakumar of Moolakkulam and his wife Punitha came to the Manakkula Vinayagar temple here to offer worship last night yesterday.

While returning home at around 2100 hrs, two helmeted youths on a motorcycle waylaid them at Ozhukarai and snatched the Rs 20,000 chain Punitha was wearing.

Earlier, Pushpagandhi lost her chain in a similar manner at the Gandhi-Vaisyal Street Junction with one more incident reported from Lawspet.Following this, police have intesified night patrolling.
