Bawariya gang involved in post office dacoity: police
Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, Jan 25 (UNI) Police claimed that Uttar Pradesh's Bawariya gang was involved in a Rs 31 lakh dacoity at the head post office here three months ago.
City's Additional Superintendent of Police Badrinarayan Meena told reporters here yesterday that after two months' investigation the police reached the conclusion and photo sketch of three members of the gang had been prepared.
Prem Singh, Bhagirathi and Jagdish, residents of Uttar Pradesh's Auraiya district, were being searched for in other states.
Bawariya gang struck at the head post office located in the heart of the town on November 20, 2007. After beating up watchman Baratu, they broke the locker and fled with the cash.
While probing the case, police reached Banarasi colony at Auraiya where they were informed that three members of the gang had committed the crime. Two other members of the gang, who did not get share of the booty, revealed involvement of others, Mr Meena added.
